(EMDR)

EMDR is proven to help people heal from trauma.

EMDR is an approach to treating trauma that utilizes specialized eye movement techniques to supplement other therapy processes. Just like our eyes move when we’re dreaming at night, trained EMDR therapists lead clients through a series of steps that include prescribed eye movements to process traumas that have become resistant to processing.

What Makes EMDR So Effective?

There are many ways to treat psychological trauma. Why has EMDR become such a well-respected technique for help clients process these painful memories?

One important aspect of EMDR therapy is that it doesn’t require that you talk at length about the thing that happened to you. You’ll likely talk to your therapist about what happened but it doesn’t require an extensive retelling. Instead, the specialized techniques in EMDR help to unlock your internal healing processes to resolve the trauma.

It’s often the case that using EMDR techniques can help resolve traumatic experiences in fewer sessions that other therapeutic techniques.

At its core, EMDR is an approach that is tailored to unlocking your brain’s natural healing processes to resolve trauma. We often think about this kind of trauma as getting stuck somewhere along the normal healing path.
